International Master's Programme on Circular Economy

Course outline, qualifications and competences

The master's programme on Circular Economy (CIRCLE) focusses on procuring, assessing and optimising innovative sustainable technologies. Its scope includes dynamics, complexity and interactions between natural, technical, physical, chemical, industrial and economic processes and systems with regard to sustainable development. Specific issues relate to waste management, resource and technology management. These issues require the use of multidisciplinary methods: accordingly, this programme focusses on natural and social sciences as well as technical studies. In a basic module, students first acquire theoretical knowledge about sustainable development as well as practical skills related to methods that are applied to the analysis of complex systems (statistics, data collection and modelling techniques, etc.). The range of courses is broad, multidisciplinary and cross-university.

Expected results

Graduates of the master's programme will have acquired comprehensive theoretical and methodical knowledge and skills. They will therefore be able to analyse questions relating to sustainable technological developments from a multidisciplinary and systematic perspective. They will be able to design innovative systems, to improve existing systems and to identify, analyse and assess the environmental impact of processes, products, projects and strategies.
